In a world where social media and constant connectivity rule our lives, it's easy to get caught up in the opinions and perceptions of others. We often find ourselves worrying about what others think of us, our talents, our beliefs, and our values. We dull our shine in the process, all in an effort to conform to what we perceive as societal norms.
But the truth is, we can't control what others think of us. We can only control how we react to their opinions. The modern world's negativity can make it easy to give up on ourselves and our dreams. It's natural to want approval and validation from others, but when it becomes the sole focus of our lives, we lose sight of who we truly are.
Prior generations conformed out of fear of failure and being disliked. These fears have created the social constructs that we live in today. But the world is changing, and it's time for us to change with it. We need to remember that our journey is not the same as anyone else's. We are unique individuals with our own talents, values, and beliefs. And we should celebrate that uniqueness, rather than hiding it away.
The truth is, we are all imperfect beings, and that's okay. Our imperfections make us who we are, and we should embrace them, rather than trying to hide them. When we focus on what others think of us, we give away our power. We allow others to define us, rather than defining ourselves.
So, what can we do to stop dulling our shine and start living authentically? First and foremost, we need to ask ourselves why we care what others think. Is it because we genuinely value their opinion, or is it because we are afraid of rejection? Once we understand our motivations, we can start to take steps towards living our truth.
We can start by surrounding ourselves with positive influences, people who uplift and inspire us. We can also practice self-love and acceptance. When we accept ourselves for who we are, flaws and all, we are less likely to seek validation from others.
It's time to stop dulling our shine and start living authentically. We can't control what others think of us, but we can control how we react to their opinions. By embracing our uniqueness and living our truth, we can create a world where individuality is celebrated, rather than hidden away. So, let's stop worrying about what the outsiders think, and start living our best lives.

What other people think about you has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them. by Jen Sincero
